SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is a highly reliable, interoperable and manageable server operating system that enables firms to cost-effectively and securely deliver mission critical services.  In this class you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Linux and gain a basic understanding of the core features of the SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 Operating System.

After completing this course, you will have learned how to:     * Use the Linux Desktop
    * Create, view and manage Linux files
    * Work with the Linux shell and command line
    * Administer Linux with YAST
    * Manage users, groups, and permissions
    * And much more

Audience This course is ideal for those who have little or no experience with Linux and who are seeking a fundamental understanding of the SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 operating system. It is also ideal for those who want to begin preparing for the Novell Certified Linux Administrator 11 Exam.

Outline This 3 day course covers such topics as:
    * First Steps with Linux
    * Locate and Use Help Resources manage Linux File System
    * Work with the Linux Shell and CLI
    * Administer Linux with YaST
    * Manage Users, Groups, and Premissions
    * Use Linux Text Editors
    * Manage Software with RPM

Exams This course is the first of a two-course path towards the Certified Linux Administrator (CLA) 11 exam. This exam is number 050-720.

Live Online Requirements Still instructor-led, this method allows students to participate remotely using a home or office computer with a microphone and earphones. Classroom computers are used over the Internet to complete labs.
For Live Online training, you require a quiet room with no distractions, a computer with a high speed internet connection, and a headset (microphone and earphones) to participate.
Prerequisites & Certificates

This course is designed for beginners with the Linux operating system. Attendees are required to have only basic computer skills on any operating system. Knowledge of a desktop operating system is sufficient.

* Cancellations less than 10 business days before the first day of class.
* Classes in progress or completed.
* Days where the student did not attend.

If the course is "Guaranteed To Run", then a 20% administrative fee is applied for all cancellations.
