Time is the universal constraint. In this course we explore the skills in self-discipline, time management, personal organization and planning.
Setting priorities and managing time effectively is basic to managing individual and organizational performance. The pressure to find innovative ways to achieve goals, pay attention to the competition, respond quickly to customer needs, and enjoy life outside of work is even more intense in today's less structured, information-driven workplace. During this workshop each participant conducts a self-assessment of 12 potential time wasters to determine how effectively they are in dealing with each. Once weaknesses are identified, we will look at the organizational and motivational techniques available to overcome these problems.
Expected Results: Participants will learn to use better systems and tools, and have
the resources to
• increase productivity
• meet customer needs
• respond to opportunities
• reduce stress
• discover their time-management strengths
• develop new skills for improved performance
• focus on priorities
Methods A self-assessment tool of current time management habits in the following twelve categories will be completed:
1. Attitudes towards success and behavioral choices
2. Goals – identifying the ones that matter
3. Prioritizing what’s important/urgent
4. Analyzing your current use of time
5. Planning what you need to do to get to the results
6. Scheduling when you will do what is critical
7. Interruptions – reducing and dealing effectively with interruptions
8. Meetings – finally meetings that actually work
9. Paperwork – effectively handling all the necessary paperwork/correspondence
10. Delegating effectively for success
11. Procrastination – how to overcome the destructive effects of procrastination
12. Time Teamwork – having your whole team become more effective

Delegate substitution is permitted up to and including the day of the workshop. A full refund will be given for cancellations received in writing no later than 2 weeks (10 business days) prior to the start date of the workshop. Any cancellations received after this date will be subject to an administrative fee of 20% (plus GST) of the total fee. No refund will be granted if cancellation is received less than 2 business days prior to the start date of the workshop.
Humber reserves the right to cancel this program due to insufficient registrations and will be responsible for refunding the tuition fee (and GST) only. Should events occur that are beyond our control (instructor illness, inclement weather, etc.), Humber may find it necessary to postpone the training. Should such an event occur, every attempt would first be made to find an equally qualified instructor to present the workshop or reschedule it for a time or times mutually acceptable to both the participant and Humber.
