Pre-Requisites

Experience as an IT professional or student; Working knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform and its key components; Knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse (or general data modeling) and security concepts

Lessons

The Microsoft Power Platform empowers organizations to automate business processes, develop their own rich app experiences, and connect with customers better and faster.

In this course, students will learn to perform discovery, capture requirements, engage subject matter experts and stakeholders, translate requirements, and configure Power Platform solutions and apps. They will supplement their learnings with hands-on labs to create application enhancements, custom user experiences, system integrations, data conversions, custom process automation, and custom visualizations. Power Platform is comprised of four key products: Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents. In this course, we will cover these four applications in depth, with additional focus on Microsoft Dataverse (formerly Common Data Service), AI Builder, connectors, and portals.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

A Microsoft Power Platform Functional Consultant is responsible for creating and configuring apps, automations, and solutions. They act as the liaison between users and the implementation team. The functional consultant promotes utilization of solutions within an organization. The functional consultant may perform discovery, engage subject matter experts and stakeholders, capture requirements, and map requirements to features. They implement components of a solution including application enhancements, custom user experiences, system integrations, data conversions, custom process automation, and simple visualizations.

COURSE OUTLINE

Module 1: Introduction to the Microsoft Power Platform

This module will provide the learner with background about Microsoft Power Platform and its 4 key components: Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Identify the key components of the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Describe the role of a functional consultant

 

Module 2:  The Functional Consultant role

In this module, students will learn more about the functional consultant role and the skills required to successfully implement a Microsoft Power Platform solution for an organization.

  • Create and validate documentation
  • Engage stakeholders
  • Perform quality assurance
  • Configure integrations

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Engage stakeholders with demos
  • Create table (entity) relationship diagrams
  • Design integrations
  • Interact with consultant and customer organization teams

 

Module 3: Work with Dataverse

In this module, students will learn about creating a data model in Microsoft Dataverse, including importing data, using tabular reporting options, and configuring security. They will also learn about creating easy AI with AI Builder.

Module 4: Make Power Apps

In this module, students will learn the business value of the three types of Power Apps. They will then learn to how to configure and design them, including user experience considerations for each type of application.

  • Connect to data in Power Apps
  • Build a Power App
  • Design an application user experience

 

Module 5: Build Power Automate flows

In this module, students will learn how to automate business processes using Power Automate flows, business process flows, and UI flows.

Module 6: Work with Power Virtual Agents

In this module, students will learn how to automate customer interactions with a chatbot using Power Virtual Agents.

Module 7: Analyze data with Power BI

In this module, students will learn how to work with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service to analyze data and create visualizations.

Cancellation Policy

We require 16 calendar days notice to reschedule or cancel any registration. Failure to provide the required notification will result in 100% charge of the course. If a student does not attend a scheduled course without prior notification it will result in full forfeiture of the funds and no reschedule will be allowed. Within the required notification period, only student substitutions will be permitted. Reschedules are permitted at anytime with 16 or more calendar days notice. Enrollments must be rescheduled within six months of the cancel date or funds on account will be forfeited.

I would never take another course that starts at 11AM and goes to 9PM again. The way the course was laid out really took away from the capturing of what was presented as it was 5-6 hours of watching a screen before getting to the actual labs. There has to be a better way to lay out this particular course. In my previous course, the lectures were broken up by labs which worked out fantastic and kept you engaged in the course. There were days when in order to actually complete the labs, would go over the 9PM day end time frame. Was able to get the primary labs done, but if you want to get all the content completed, you cannot complete it in the window of this course, you will need to come back on your own time.

Wasn’t as advanced as I thought it would be. There was an issue when the day my course was the first time they used a new platform.. from adobe to something called zoom; I had to call support line cause it stated our instructor wasn’t present. Thankfully I called cause everyone online was in the adobe virtual classroom waiting for what looked like a teacher who didn’t show up for class (IT didn’t get anything resolved until 10mins after start time). I felt like he was really getting hung up on very basic knowledge for the first half of the course (talking about how to create tabs and drag formulas as an example). I completed files a few times before he was done explaining. There was a scheduled fire drill for them (roughly 30mins)that also cut into our time, which wasn’t deducted from the hour lunch break or the two, fifteen min breaks. I also really wish he touched base more on the automating workbook functions portion which we barely did. I'm happy there were/are those study guides (learning videos) and exams to take on my own time that I hope after I've had the class are still available for me to learn from.
