In this one-day instructor-led course, the students will learn to perform advanced functions as an end user with SharePoint 2010 sites. This can be taught on-site or at a training company.
The primary audience for this course is individuals who want to become more proficient with the use of SharePoint 2010 in the workplace. This course covers more advanced topics than the beginner course, for those who have already attended the Beginner course. This is a non-technical course. The secondary audience for this course is individuals who will continue on to the "Site Owner" role and will need all these skills as a prerequisite.
At Course Completion
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Confidently manage synchronization of SharePoint sites
- Understand the procedure to use Outlook to synchronize
- Understand the procedure to use SharePoint Workspace 2010
- Understand Searching for content or people in SharePoint 2010
- Understand Tags, Notes, Voting and advanced sharing options
Module 1: SharePoint Beginner Review
The students will be introduced to what SharePoint 2010 is and what it can do for the end user (employees) and for business (employers)
1.1 What is SharePoint?
1.2 The SharePoint Players (roles of various people)
1.3 Focus on the End User Expectations
1.4 Complete walkthrough of a SharePoint site
Module 2: Search, Voting Buttons & Tags
2.1 Searching on a SharePoint page or site.
2.2 Using a dedicated search center site.
2.3 Using voting buttons (I like it) and tags (keywords)
2.4 Using "people search"
Practice 2.1: Searching a SharePoint 2010 site
Practice 2.2: Rating content and pages in SharePoint
Module 3: Extra Columns and Document Metadata
3.1 Exposure to extra columns in libraries and lists with compulsory data or not.
3.2 How these columns link to the properties of the document (metadata)
3.3 How to sort columns to break down large libraries and lists
3.4 How to focus on documents from a specific department or person
3.5 How to use the Document panel within Word to access the metadata

Module 4: Time Sensitive Lists Synchronization
4.1 SharePoint Task list synchronization with Outlook 2007/2010
4.2 SharePoint Calendar synchronization with Outlook 2007/2010
