Workshop Outline and Methodology The morning is devoted to examining our current thinking to realize that most of it is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed, or down-right prejudiced. The realization that shoddy thinking is costly, but that excellence in thought must be systematically cultivated. The various kinds of shoddy thinking will be examined with real world examples.
The afternoon will be reserved for the development of critical thinking, which is self-directed, self-disciplined, self-monitored, and self-corrective. It requires rigorous standards of excellence and mindful command of their use. It entails effective communication and problem solving abilities, and a commitment to overcoming our native ego-centrism and socio-centrism.
Participants will receive a copy of “The Thinker’s Guide to Analytical Thinking” by Dr. Richard Paul and Dr. Linda Elder, published by the Foundation of Critical Thinking, in either official language.
