This hands-on course provides business analysts with the basic procedures knowledge needed to write on-line applications using CICS.


 
Course Outline
 This course is intended for business analysts who have limited knowledge of coding CICS applications and want to learn more about CICS concepts and structure, the maintenance and use of CICS program BMS Maps and to understand pseudo-conversational programming for CICS. This course focuses on providing the fundamentals of how to code CICS application programs written in COBOL. Case studies and hands-on exercise ensure an effective learning experience.
Objectives
  • To gain an understanding of the CICS concepts, structure and facilities.
  • To learn how to develop and maintain Basic Mapping Support (BMS) Maps and use them in CICS Programs.
  • To understand the concepts behind pseudo-conversational programming and learn how to code CICS programs.

Prerequisites & Certificates
Pre-Requisites

Students are assumed to be familiar with TSO/ISPF. Basic programming knowledge in COBOL or other programming language is helpful.

Up to the 11th business day prior to class, a registration may be cancelled or rescheduled without charge. Thereafter the full course fee will be invoiced whether it's a cancelled or rescheduled. In which case a reschedule credit, valid for 1 year, will be issued. Substitutions may be made at any time prior to the start of the course.
