This course will introduce students to both descriptive and univariate inferential statistical procedures used commonly in social science research. The emphasis for this course, however, will be on the application of these procedures in the spreadsheet environment of Microsoft Excel. Three different aspects of statistical reasoning will be emphasized: (1.) computational formulas and assumptions, (2.) spreadsheet applications using Excel, and (3.) appropriate uses of these statistics. The topics we will cover include descriptive summary statistics, correlation, regression, t-tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA).
