Course Outline
This two-day course is developed for people who may not be writers in their regular job, but who need to create specific technical topic-based content to deliver a clear message to the right audience. Learn how to organize your information into topics and identify the components of a well-formed topic. Acquire hands-on experience with creating Concept, Task, and Reference topics and learn how to sequence topics to create multiple flows and outputs.

Objectives
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Identify the audience that is being written for Understand what topic-based writing is and its advantages
  • Understand how to create Concept, Task, and Reference topics
  • Identify the components of a well-written topic Follow best-practices for organizing new material into topic-based content
  • Take existing legacy content and rewrite it into topic-based content
  • Create topics designed for working in multiple contexts
  • Sequence topics to create different outputs, including print and online help
  • Have practical knowledge of how to create your own customized information model

Audience
This course is designed for technical audiences who have to create technical documents for their organization and/or teams.

I took the training remotely so I cannot comment on some of the questions. I think that this seminar has too much content to squeeze it into one week.... might be better as a two week course?

found the material very helpful - although there was a lot of material covered - the pace was well set. Would definitely recommend people to have explored Microsoft Access beforehand to be familiarized with the program before taking the course. I would imagine someone without any exposure would find it confusing. Environment really good - people very, very nice and helpful. Would definitely take the next level of access with the same training facility.

I was not in the physical classroom. Feedback centered around online training would be good because now I have to rate items that I was not present for. Those items are getting half a star because I was not there to rate them. The course material must go through an editing process. There are a lot of grammar mistakes, but also a lot of actual procedure/activity mistakes.
