Upon completion, students will understand: How their attitudes & actions impact others, What their own natural Conflict Resolution style is, New & effective techniques for dealing with difficult people, Coping strategies for dealing with difficult people

Course Outline
It is a rare situation in today’s society where we are able to accomplish anything without any interaction with others.  Success today often depends on relationships with other people. Inevitably, some personalities will mesh better than others, and the potential for conflict to arise is ever present. How can you avoid those difficulties to begin with, and how can you deal with them in the most effective way when they do arise?  How can conflict actually become an asset?

After successful completion of this workshop, participants will understand:

-    How their attitudes and actions impact others
-    What their own natural Conflict Resolution style is
-    New and effective techniques for dealing with difficult people
-    Coping strategies for dealing with difficult people and difficult situations
-    How to identify times when they have the right to walk away from a difficult situation
-    Techniques for managing and dealing with anger

Introduction and Course Overview

You will spend the first part of the day getting to know participants and discussing what will take place during the workshop. Students will also have an opportunity to identify their personal learning objectives, and complete a private questionnaire to identify their own current conflict resolution style.

Reciprocal Relationships
This lecture will examine the idea that, in a relationship with another person, our expectations are likely to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Dealing with Change
During this session, participants will examine change through a panel discussion and small group work.

The Agreement Frame
Anthony Robbins, and many other communicators, suggests we become skillful at using what he calls The Agreement Frame. This session will explore this idea and practice applying it.

The Ten Commandments of Change
Sam Deep and Lyle Sussman suggest there are ten commandments associated with change. Participants will look at these commandments and see how they can be applied.

Preventing Problems
There are several key ways that we can prevent problems from occurring. These methods will be examined in a lecture and in small group work.

Dealing with Problems
Participants will work in small groups to explore eight ways of dealing with problems.

Causes of Difficult Behavior
This lecture will look at the four fears that everyone has and how we can cope with them.

The Five-Step Process
During this session, we will look at a five-step process that can help participants resolve conflict.

Changing Yourself
Earlier we discussed how our attitudes and actions impact others. In this session, we will take a deeper look at how negative attitudes can cause negative interactions, and what we can do to turn those attitudes around.

Why Don’t People Do What They Are Supposed To?
There are a million possible answers to this question, but we will discuss the ten most common reasons.

Managing Anger
This session will share some techniques others have used to manage their anger. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and techniques.

De-Stress Options You Can Use Right Now!
To conclude the day, we will look at five techniques participants can use to unwind. We will also share a list of coping thoughts.

Workshop Wrap-Up
At the end of the day, students will have an opportunity to ask questions and fill out an action plan.

The trainer was very knowledgeable and kept the course moving at a great pace. I wish I could take her home with me, so she could help me teach photoshop at the school I work at.

The course was very helpful and the instructor was very knowledgable and made the effort to make sure all class members were understanding the excersizes and were on the same page. My only complaint is that the computers seemed a little worn out. Throughout the day most students in the class ran into some sort of issue with the computer not working the way it should. And during our practice time closer to the end of the day all the computers started crashing.

The course was excellent, but I felt a little out of my league. The participants in the course were designers and IT people who had used other versions of SharePoint. While I benefited from their questions and comments during the class, I feel "lost" now that I'm back on my own at the office. Perhaps I was in the wrong coarse, but it did say power "user".

The instructor didn't provide a lot of structure to the class, he just skimmed through the material and didn't go into it very deep. As a result, the class finished up 1.5 h early as well. He tried to add material from PMI (which was missing from the course materials) but this sometimes just made things more confusing. The PMI material should really be in the course material to start with. Otherwise, the instructor was helpful, knowledgeable and had a good demeanor.

Very good course with a very knowledgeable instructor. Class was at full occupancy and I felt that the class size was too large.

There were only 4 students so it went fast and we finished early. Personally I would have liked to spend more time practicing. Perhaps some reference to the book and if there were any practice exercises in there that we could use to gain more experience with Visio.

The course started 40 minutes late because they did not have the correct computers set up for the program. It's like they were not even expecting us. I found it very disorganized. For the price I paid for this course, I expected a more professional presentation.
