Course Outline

Introduction to Crystal Reports

This is a 2-day hands-on, instructor-led course. Class size is limited to six participants.

In this course, you'll learn the basics of creating and modifying a variety of reports.¬†Reports that involve grouping, linking and creating formulae are also covered.¬†You'll learn to create reports ¬ďfrom scratch¬Ē as well as by using Crystal Reports¬í experts. ¬† To benefit from this course, you should have a good grasp of basic Windows concepts (minimizing, maximizing, opening and closing windows; copying and pasting; and file management (creating and using folders and subfolders).¬†Understanding of a database programme as well as tables, fields, records and queries is advantageous but not essential. Basic knowledge of Excel formulae and functions is also advantageous. ¬† Topics covered include: ¬†Overview Of The Programme¬ís Capabilities Creating And Modifying Basic Reports -selecting data for the report - working with different sections of the report (report header, page header, detail, etc.) -viewing reports in different ways (Preview vs. Design View) - ¬†formatting the report ¬Ė changing fonts, field position, field size, adding page numbers, etc. - creating and modifying reports, including inserting lines, boxes and graphics ¬† Saving And Opening Reports ¬† Sorting And Selecting Records ¬† Grouping And Summarizing Reports ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† single and multiple-level groups ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† inserting subtotals and totals ¬† Using Report Experts ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† creating reports using the Standard Report Expert and the Mailing Labels Report Expert Creating Reports With Formulae ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† using the Formula Editor to create formulae ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† saving formulae and putting them on reports ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† editing existing formulae ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† adding a formula that Totals by Group ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† adding a Running Total ¬† Creating Charts Using The Chart Expert ¬† Distributing Reports ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† using an appropriate file format for exporting reports ¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† exporting to Excel and Word ¬†
Prerequisites & Certificates
Pre-Requisites

Good working knowledge of Windows. Knowledge of a database programme and Excel will be an asset.
