After participating in this course you will be able to:Description
• Solve hydrodynamics problems with better understanding of fluid statics and hydrostatics
• Specify and select suitable hydraulic machines needed for your specific system head requirements on your projects
• Analyze frictional head losses, pump head requirements, determine KW’s of hp’s required for development of certain fluid head
• Determine the KW’s or MW’s generated under given hydraulic elevation head conditions, on hydroelectric projects
This seminar/workshop focuses on fluid statics, hydrodynamics and hydraulic machines for participants with little or no fluids background. It transitions from hydraulics concepts to laws, mathematical equations, sample problems and practical hydraulics case study examples. For those participants who possess prior fluids knowledge and experience, this seminar/workshop, serves as a refresher. It enables you to stay abreast of fluids and hydraulics engineering fundamentals. You receive PDHs that you may use to satisfy the professional development hour requirement, as established by provincial engineering associations or state boards for licensure maintenance.Objective
• To review fundamental and intermediate concepts and principles associated with fluid statics and hydrodynamics.Who Should Attend
• To train participants in analysis, mathematical formulation and solution of mainstream hydrostatic, hydrodynamics and hydraulic machine problems.
Civil engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, environmental engineers, chemical engineers, industrial engineers, project managers and technicians who wish to enhance their technical hydraulics knowledge.
After review and illustration of principles and mathematical techniques pertaining to the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic systems, participants are given class assignment to solve a hybrid, hydrostatics/hydrodynamics problem. Having grasped analytical and mathematical techniques involved in hydrodynamic problems, with frictional head consideration, participants are given an opportunity to hone their skills through in-class, participative, exercise involving maximum flow rate, maximum head, and pump horsepower type calculations. Participants’ confidence in mathematical analysis associated with power flow from fluid to “wire” and “wire” to fluid is reinforced through hydraulic machine system exercises. All in-class exercises are conducted in teams of two to three participants under instructor guidance.
