The course explains key aspects of the central activity of chemical engineering: the design and start up of facilities for making or modifying useful products or for disposing of waste substances.

Course Outline

The course describes the documents and other protocols that are used at successive stages of design, it surveys literature and software that assist in design, and it presents a set of principles that can aid in the creative activity of process synthesis.  Inter-leaved with these general considerations is a systematic tabulation and description of equipment available to meet the physical and chemical requirements of workable processes.

Objective
Define the steps in the designing of chemical processes and plants
Provide aids and ideas for the creative activity of process synthesis
Survey the equipment used in chemical operations
Explain how to estimate capital and operating costs
Present a method for scheduling the execution of projects
Outline how processes are designed and analyzed for safety, health and environmental acceptability

Who Should Attend
Practicing chemical engineers, process design engineers, process operations engineers, project engineers in process industries, consulting engineers, research and development, and pilot plant engineers will find the course useful.

Our instructor, Stephen Lamming, was outstanding and a true expert in his field. He was able to complement the technical air monitoring information with practical real life examples which was highly beneficial. He is an excellent communicator and was highly interactive with the course attendees. This course was recommended to me because Stephen Lamming does an outstanding job. I was very impressed with this course and have subsequently recommended it to my colleagues.
