After participating in this course, you will be able to:
• Use in-depth knowledge of all aspects of above ground storage tank technology
• Select and specify materials of construction for tanks to optimize performance and operating life
• Implement strategies for effective corrosion management in tank systems
• Employ a variety of options for cleaning and rehabilitation
• Apply tank fundamentals to design for settlement
• Follow systematically the inspection procedures for uninterrupted service
Description Storage tanks pose a complex management problem for owners and designers. Because of the wide variety of liquids that must be stored, some being toxic, flammable or corrosive, materials selection for tanks is a critical decision. The leakage of stored liquids can have impacts ranging from nuisance to catastrophe; therefore, the integrity of the storage tank, and the containment systems in the event of spills or leaks, are also important issues. In this seminar, you will update your understanding of above ground storage tank technologies constructed in accordance with API standard 650, expand your knowledge of materials of construction and their performance with various petroleum products, chemicals and hazardous liquids, and explore the technical issues that will enable you to optimize tank life and performance.
ObjectivesTo explore current above ground storage tank technology, materials selection and design considerations, to develop strategies for the optimization of storage tank life and performance, and to gain knowledge of the safety hazards and mitigation measures related to above ground storage tanks.
Who Should AttendPlant and maintenance engineers, process engineers, technologists and technicians involved in the selection, installation and operation of liquid storage tanks; consulting engineers and designers; infrastructure project managers; facility managers; structural engineers; emergency response personnel; environmental managers from the petrochemical, chemical, pulp and paper, and municipal sectors and any industry in which liquid storage is a concern will benefit by attending this seminar.
