Continuing Education Policy

Purpose (from the PMAC website)

In order for the C.P.P. holder, the purchasing profession, and employers of C.P.P.s to benefit from and maintain credibility of the certification, continuous professional development is expected to ensure a level of competency and current knowledge with respect to purchasing-related business matters.

A professional is more likely to remain at a high level of competence and currency if:

Pursuing self-education that has some value in the business world, or
Expanding the body of purchasing knowledge, or
Bettering the purchasing profession by disseminating business knowledge, or
Promoting or supporting the value of the purchasing profession.

Maintenance Requirements

Credits are assigned to prescribed maintenance activities and while there is no upper limit, a minimum of 30 credits needs to be achieved over each maintenance period of three years.

It is up to C.P.P. holders to report their activities each year to their Institute and provide satisfactory evidence of their acitvities to that Institute.

Exemptions

All honorary and permanently retired non-practising Institute members shall be exempt from maintenance requirements. A C.P.P. holder not belonging to any of these categories may request in writing and be granted a one-time exemption at the absolute discretion of the governing Institute.
